2018 marks a milestone for the Radio Control Monster Truck Challenge. The series this year will celerate its 10th season!! and the 10th Anniversary tour promises to be one for the best we've ever had. The year got kicked off on February 3rd at RC Madness, where 60 trucks between two racing classes were on hand to battle it out for the first win of the year. The pro-mod class was on hand for the opening round of the highly anticipated 2018 RCMTC Crawford Performance Points Series and the RCMTC Retro Renegades class was on hand for the ever popular RCMTC Retro Renegades Battle of the Monster Trucks retro race. The monsters were not shy in getting the competition going.
The qualifying rounds of the pro-mod class for Points Series Round 1 started up the day's racing action. The trucks raced on a Monster Jam "Jersey Style" race course on the indoor carpet track and the racing was excellent. Ethan Saunders made a statement drving Dirt Crew as he was able to grab the top qualifying spot. Dirt Crew stayed strong during the early rounds of the elimnation bracket but sufffered tough breakage during the later rounds and was defeated. The defending series champion Derrick Algieri was also a strong force as usual, getting two trucks into the final four, but so did Kyle DeFalco. Kyle was strong in the semi final races and got both Pure Adrenaline and Executioner to the finals, with Pure Adrenaline taking the win.
Retro racing was as entertaining as ever with a debut of the Towasaurus Wrex retro truck among a great looking field of retros to take Battle number one of 2018. Tom Greathouse driving the Coors Silver Bullet Machine was on it all day, taking the top qualifying spot and winning the Battle of the Monster Trucks by defeating Dan DeFalco's Stomper in the finals.
