With threatening skies overhead the RC Monster Truck Challenge returned to the RC Madness racing facility in Enfield CT for round #2 of the 2013 RC Monster Truck Challenge Points Series. A 15 truck field was on hand to brave the weather and do battle on a 3 jump straight drag in the RC Madness sand drag track. This track provided a unique challenge for the trucks and drivers as this was the first time the RCMTC has raced in sand. Large ruts developed quickly at the starting line as the runs went on and the drivers would need to make sure that they could get the truck staged in the ruts properly and with this DTS-1 timing system, the start would be very important to who won these races.
Racing got started with the first elmination round racing in a light rain. Thunderstorms were in the forecast and the teams were on their toes to try and get the full 6 rounds in. Shock Therapy and American Guardian would face off in the round 1 final, with Shock Therapy grabbing the win. Grave Digger and Ragin Steel emerged as early threats by winning the 2nd and third rounds. Airforce Afterburner showed some strength by winning a racing round as well. However, It was Maximum Destruction who showed to be a major player by winning 2 of the last 3 rounds. The last coming on a win after Grave Digger DQ'ed by missing the last ramp. When it was all said and done. Maximum Destruction was crowned the winner of Round #2. Air Force Afterburner was consistent enough to take 2nd, Ragin Steel came in 3rd with Grave Digger only 5 points behind in 4th and Thumper Rounded out the top 5. the event win plus a rough day for El Diablo was enough to give Max-D the points lead, with Ragin Steel down to 2nd place and Grave Digger moved up to third. The points have shook up after today, it will only get more interesting as we move on to round #3, stay tuned!!
