It's that time of the year, championship time. The sixth and final Round of the 2017 R/C Monster Truck Challenge Points Series. We've seen our most competitive year ever in 2017 so far, five events and five different winners and now it's time to crown a champion. The Trucks of the RCMTC returned to the awesome R/C Madness racing in Enfield, CT for the final time in 2017 to fight it out on a big and challenging S-Course.
Points Leader Derrick Algieri and Sudden Impact set the tone early by grabbing the top qualifying spot, doing what he needed to do to get him a top seed in the final points championship round of the year. In hot pursuit though was Grave Digger, coming off of three podium finishes in a row the Digger was ready to make a run. Grave Digger met Sudden Impact in the quarter finals in the championship round and was able to get the win over the points leader. Digger went on to meet Nitro Hornet in the finals a rematch of the Round #5 final. In the finals it was Kyle DeFalco this time getting the win over Digger after a close finish and with that the standings were official. Even if Grave Digger won the event, it would not have been enough, as Derrick Algieri did all he needed with Sudden Impact to earn him a high enough finish to win the 2017 R/C Monster Truck Challenge Series Championship!!!! Derrick earned an impressive 1st and 2nd place finish in the season standings on what has been the most competitive season ever. As we conclude another amazing Points season, we want to thank each and every driver who came out this year. We had 60 awesome trucks compete this year and record entry numbers for a season long series.
