June 5th 2010 - With threatening weather on the forecast, the monster trucks of the RCMTC were the only thing to make thunder on this day. 10 monster trucks lined up at the famous Barnstormers RC Raceway in Chester New York for Round #3 of the 2010 RC Monster Truck Challenge points series, and as always the racing was close and exciting all day. The trucks would compete on a modified chicago style course. The trucks would first start over a big school bus ramp and then come charing down the first set of cars and complete one full lap on the crush cars for a traditional chicago style finish. Dan DeFalco came out with Grave Digger in Round 1 and despite losing rear drive after the first run, made it to the finals to face Derrick Algieri and the new Green Goblin. Derrick was our round 1 winner and was facing misfortune in the opening round as Mr. Destruction was defeated by Grave Digger early and was able to move up with Goblin through the fast loser bracket. Derrick was able to grab the round 1 win in the finals over the struggling digger and right away it looked liked he had the trucks to beat yet again after Green Goblin returned to win the second round of the day. Dan DeFalco's AMSOIL Shock Therapy had gotten off to a slow start in the first two events of the year and struggled in the first two rounds. However by the third round of the day, Shock Therapy found its way into the finals againsted DRCR and CPE racing teammate Maximum Destruction. In an all CPE final, it was Shock Therapy grabbing the win. After the halftime break, the trucks got ready to run the last 3 rounds of the day. George Fabbiani made his prescence known in the 4th bracket round with The Slayer and pulled off a strong win in the finals over Green Goblin. AMSOIL Shock Therapy battled back in round 5 to win the finals there, and Derrick Algieri was able to grab the last final round win of the day in round 6. Consistency would play key in the points today however, which allowed for Dan DeFalco and the CPE AMSOIL Shock Therapy to grab his first event win of the season. The win for Dan would cut Kyle DeFalco's series points lead by more than half as Max-D finished out of the top 3. Derrick scored second and third place finishes and also was able to get back into the points race. Check out some pictures from today's awesome event. *CLICK THUMBNAIL TO ENLARGE AND SCOLL*
