The 2011 season is barely underway and already has another first for the RCMTC. On Saturday, February 26th the RCMTC Monsters rolled into the WRAM Show in White Plains NY for an awesome day of racing and freestyle action. The WRAM show is the largest RC expo in the northeast and is held at the Westchester County Center, where the entire center is 3 floors full of awesome RC models, displays and manufacturing booths. Along with all the awesome displays and booths the R/C fans got to take part in building projects, see airplane demos and this year, RCMTC Monster Trucks!!!!. The monsters have not been part of the WRAM show since the RCMTRA last ran there back in 2007 and the fans got treated to some great action from the trucks all day.
The field of trucks was strong today with some familiar faces returning to racing. The DeFalco team was on hand with Grave Digger, Maximum Destruction, Shock Therapy, Monster Patrol and Airforce Afterburner. Historically the Westchester County Center had been hard on the team, which did not earn an event victory in 4 years of trying. Making his RCMTC debut today was Chad Buckland with the powerful Spike and Juice trucks. Chad was a strong challenger in the RCMTRA days and has won the No Limit RC World Finals and NRCTPA championships and would be tough here today. Artie Fie dominated the RCMTRA circuit during the 2002 and 2003 seasons and today would be his first venture on the new RCMTC scene. Artie pilots his familiar Gun Slinger truck on a brushless Kyosho USA-1 Chassis as well as the Green Snake Bite truck. Also on hand was freestyle Champs Abdul Rascoe and Greg Noonan as well as Pete Wilhelm making his second start with Clydesdale.
During the course of the show the racing was close and competitive and quickly, it appeared the fight was beteween Spike and the always tough Airforce Afterburner. Chad mastered the Spike truck through the slick concrete turns all day but fell into back luck during a first round dq during one of the racing heats which hurt him. Still it came down right to the wire, as Kyle in the Airforce Afterburner would come out on top by only 2 points!!! Dan and the Amsoil Shock Therapy rounded out the podium with a 3rd place finish. Freestyle action accompanied the racing throughout the day and it was great as well. Check out some pictures from the 2011 Winter Wars Wram show event.
It was an awesome event this year at the WRAM Show, we here at the RCMTC were so pleased to bring the monster trucks back here and we cant wait to do it again next year!! Thanks to Tom from Bruckner Hobbies for making this possible and thanks to all the fans who came out and watched and asked about our website! we hope you enjoyed the racing you saw and enjoy following us here on the web throughout the rest of the racing season. The Winter Wars events from Conneticut and White Plains were both awesome kick offs to the 2011 season. Now the RCMTC teams turn their attention to one of the biggest and baddest points series of the year, the 2011 Crawford Performance Points Series. It's gonna be a good one, stay tuned!
